Biographical Information
Avrak i-Ihhliae tr'Merrok was born into a long line of family scholars. Avrak's great great-grandfather, inventor of the Rihannsu's feared weapon--the Plasma Torpedo--was the family legacy, and Avrak's father, a professor of Biological Sciences at the University of ch'Rihan, believed that Avrak could become the new family legacy being the eldest child of three (two female siblings). From the time he was able to read (about age three), Avrak was indoctrinated in the arts and sciences. His father encouraged him to explore the world around him, directing him at every opportunity towards the life of culture, art, and literature. By age six, Avrak was able to read at a teenage level and had already consumed more books than the average Rihanha student at age 18.
While Avrak had a very encouraging father, his two younger sisters were often jealous of Avrak's success and popularity within the family. Many times during his childhood, Avrak's middle sister argued with him and was jealous of Avrak's affection from their father. She often rebelled against their parent's wishes, landing her in trouble on more than one occasion. It was not until they reached adulthood before they reeconcilled their differences. When the two siblings get together today, they often joke about how much they disliked each other as children and reminisce about old times.
The youngest in the family took a liking to Avrak almost from the start. Avrak was a bit older (twelve years old) when she was born, and Avrak took it upon himself to watch out for her. Avrak helped his little sister with her school studies and still assists her from time to time on various things. The two have gotten along well throughout their lives, and the closeness between the two has caused Avrak to be a bit protective of her at times.
Avrak's early life push toward the academic life was not without its consequences. The young Rihanha was slow to adapt socially among his peers, and often times was seen as odd or unusual in social situations. By the time Avrak was age ten, he had spent much of his time in solitude when not around close family members. His solitary nature allowed him to even further his knowledge of academia, and he developed quite a love of trivia, including an interest in Terran history and culture after reading a short biography about the Terran musical composer Mozart.
By the time Avrak had reached the age of fifteen, his early social fears and inwardness had almost completely reversed, due in most part to the meeting of his first "crush love." The Rihanha female was beautiful, graceful, and ever so distant from Avrak. Avrak knew that if he were to ever have a chance with this young Rihanha, he would have to shed his isolated ways and learn to be more social. After several weeks of forcing himself to be more social (often times leading to some awkward moments) and resorting to reading several "self-help" type books about attracting the opposite sex, Avrak made his advances; he was promptly rejected and it scarred him emotionally for several years afterwards. To this day when under stress, Avrak resorts to his past social inwardness despite his normal outward and sociable approach.
Avrak did eventually learn better socialization skills, and while attending the University for his High Education in the Sciences, he made many friends and was quite the rampant partier. Avrak's desire to be better educated and socialized also grew, along with his desire to meet new people and explore the galaxy. Women also started noticing Avrak around this time, and his slender but handsome figure did little to discourage them. Before he graduated at the University, Avrak had several passionate relations with different Rihannsu women, but none of the relationships ever matured out of the casual phase.
Upon completion of his High Education in Science, Avrak learned about a civilian opening in a small, deep space research station near the RSE-UFP neutral zone. Eager to leave ch'Rihan and explore the universe, Avrak applied for the scientific research position. His application was accepted, and he soon was shipped off to the space station to research new technology in scanning space anomalies from long distances. After an incident resulting in the space station's destruction, Avrak decided that it was time to enroll in the Phi'lasasam and continue his career in the service of the Galae.
