Stronghold Station is situated in a central location, on the imaginary border that separates the Alpha from the Beta Quadrant and in Federation space.
Klingon-built, it is more sturdy than elegant and while it has only about twenty decks, these are extensive and can house up to 60,000 people in an emergency situation. Currently, an estimated 25,000 people reside there, most legally, some illegally. They find work as civilian experts in different fields of the military-run station, operate and work in shops and eating places, are hired on an hourly or daily basis as deckhands and cargo helpers, bodyguards, escorts, servants... Then there is the illegal side, drugs, slavery, sextrade, smuggling...
